January Gathering Overview

WOVEN Meeting Summary

Date: 1-7-2011

Time: 1pm-3pm

Held: Motherlode Holistic Connection

Greetings Women of  Woven,

Blessings for the new year!

In Attendance: Brandy Astwood, Christine Branich-Darosa, Suzel Deer, April Hughes, Kim Reu,  and a wonderful welcome for our new member, Beth Platz.

Alya Miner; President,  Susan McMorris; Vice President, Rose Navarro; Herstorian

We opened the meeting with warm greetings, a joining of hands and a pass of smudge smoke brought to us by Ayla.  Women’s Manifesto was recited and all gathered  in circle to start the opening discussion.

Discussions

The discussion started with reference to the last meeting where it was decided that we would open up a discussion about obstacles in business, asking the group for advice.

1. Handling Abundance - As one member shared her experience, many responses echoed the same feeling of what happens when we are given what we ask for.  As abundance increases, there can be a fear response of actually pushing it away, thus creating a cycle of blocks and procrastination.  Suggestions included:

Meridian Tapping- a very useful technique for releasing negative emotions through tapping meridians on the body.  Can help when feeling overwhelmed.

Turn Fear into Courage - journal about your fear, get to know the fear and confront it, learning about it can offer solutions to transform fear into courage.

Plan for Abundance - knowing that when it comes, you can digest it in small amounts, not all at once. Only what you can handle at a time.

Share  Your Experiences - know that everyone shares this obstacle and can be of support.

Reverse The Roles - take yourself out of it for a moment, ask what you would say to someone else if they came to you with the same problem.

There is Choice in Abundance - you can decide to take the opportunity or not considering timing and energy you have in reserve.

Trust - that sometimes an opportunity comes at just the right time for you and those involved and would not be given unless you could handle it.

2. When Your Business Changes - a member shared growth and change in her business, and the obstacle of changing the perception without affecting the heart centered message.  New words are needed to capture the essence of a new perception. Suggestions included:

Stand  With  Your Truth - when changing your website and description, change the wording to educate and be clear about your intentions so the heart of your business  is not diluted.

Market  Your Message on the Web - put your intentions on your site, those who share your thinking will come.

Trust – that what you are doing is for the higher good.  Reflect on the benefits that will come when you trust that what you are trying to accomplish is good for others, and when you step in a new direction, that you will have the support to do it.  Woven sisters agreed to keep ideas in mind that may help with this change.

Personal Goals for 2011

Setting personal goals for the new year:

Brandy – would like to develop systems for tackling much needed office management.  Will consider hiring someone for tedious financial duties, and delegating.

April – Networking, networking, finding connections for the fair, the need for creative time.

Beth – wants to attend as many events as possible to educate people about at home care.

Suzel – wants time off!  Gardening and communing with chickens.  Want to resolve conflicts of work, finances and personal time.

Susan – would like to keep track of schedules to avoid burn out. Keep a balance of work time and home time.

Kim – would like to remove obstacles from  her path, embrace a vitalist lifestyle, grow connections with her heart’s desire.

Rose – would like to dedicate time on different days, for the two separate businesses, to achieve balance.

Ayla – wants to clarify and shine the message of her business, get clear the essence of Chrysalis Woman through web presence and video and embrace and develop her budding love relationship with money.

Christine – wants to move her website along for her spa retreat, develop workshops and is welcoming abundance!

***Highlights***

Money,  we love Money !

Such a difficult thing to embrace sometimes, yet necessary for business survival.  Ayla provided a few resources ; “Women and Money”, by Suzy Orman.  “Money is Love”, by Barbara Wilder.  “The Energy of Money”, by Maria Nemeth, PhD.

Susan provided the “Money” song, and Ayla provided the “Money “ chant.  However, we feel about it, money is a necessary reality in the success of our businesses.  Lets embrace it!

Thoughts are Powerful – A formula

April contributed a formula that is worth thinking about.  Ask yourself:

Is that true?

Can I absolutely know that is true?

How do I feel when I think that thought?

Who would I be if I never had that thought?

Intercepting the Negative, Acknowledging the Positive

In order to align our thoughts in a positive direction, Ayla asked that we give each other permission to correct negative thoughts by gently reminding a Sister that has called a negative thought to herself.  As we are all capable of doing this, we agreed to help each other through this process.

Obligation vs. Inspiration

Was a resounding quote that was provided by Kim.  As one of her goals for the new year, Kim says, “ I will be connecting with my heart’s desire and then filtering out obligation from inspiration.  This message is so true and resonates with each one of us as we move to accept change, growth and success.

Next Meeting – Feburary 4th, 2011.   6pm – 8pm.

(In need of Sister presentations, please contact Ayla with a presentation you can contribute)

Feburary – Brandy Astwood will contact Carol Harper of Amador Community News ~ How to spread the word about your happenings locally.

March - Suzel Deer ~ Lavender Hill Retreat Presentation

Close

Sisters gathered together in circle and focused on the topics, feelings and inspirations of the meeting.  Ayla led us in reflections as we passed the heartbeat around the circle.

Herstorian

Topic for the Day

JANUARY TOPIC:

2011 GOALS

Let’s start the year off right by coming together and setting/declaring our business goals for 2011.  Take the time between now and Friday to think on your previous business year.  Were you successful?  What does success mean to you.  How do YOU define it?  What realistic goals do you wish to declare for yourself that will propel you toward this definition?

How do you create your goals?  What formula have you found/experienced/created that has helped you to set this intention and then achieve it?

Do you struggle with achieving your goals?  Do you need help in defining/accomplishing them?

Please come prepared to share about your goal setting process, your ideas of success for this New Year and any challenges you feel you may encounter that your sisters here at WOVEN can help you with.

We will also be determing the remaining calendar for 2011.  Choosing from a list of topics and brainstorming new ones!

Looking forward to seeing each of you and starting a new journey together~ one centered in heart, focused on achievement and surrounded by success!

Ayla Miner,

WOVEN President

WOVENs Future

Greetings and Brightest Blessings Women of WOVEN,
Six of us gathered this past Friday at our regularly scheduled WOVEN gathering… we each experienced a wonderful meditation connecting us to our wisdom center led by Christine Branich-Darosa ~ she shared tips for moving through the holiday season with a sense of peace and fed us delicious homemade chocolate brownies ;-)   Yum!
With the time remaining we had an open discussion regarding WOVEN, how our fledgling group was doing, its level of attendance during the last 5 months and its continuance into a new year.
Several concerns were raised.
1.  Since our six month review in June, attendance has seriously declined
2.  There has not been regular volunteer participation required to support the co-leader model we agreed upon
3.  Many groups of this holistic nature have been started only to end.  The same looks ahead for WOVEN unless something changes
All were in agreement that while the idea of shifting the current paradigm of top down leadership to a co-lead group of equals was desirable, it simply wasn’t happening and the energy we started out with seemed to have almost dimished in the second half of the year.  Acknowledgment was given to Brandy for continuing to post about gatherings and asking for gathering volunteers.  However, most often these requests were met with silence.  I acknowledged that having put the call out for the group to start, I felt a responsibility for not being there the last several months, however I also acknowledged that my presence or absence needn’t make a difference if the group was truly co-lead, as all women flow in and out as their life allows.
Awareness of our current times and the shifts happening in everyday life that could be affecting attendance was given, but the way WOVEN was created, it cannot survive without the volunteer componet.
It was decided that some form of core was needed to provide the foundation required to sustain the energy if WOVEN was to continue and thrive.  That a balance of masculine (order, foundation, structure) and feminine (heart centered, collective, creative) was needed.
All agreed that this meeting was not the time to make final decisions as to how this would look, but that the voice of all WOVEN Sisters was desired.
To facilitate this we ask each of you to please take the time to answer the questions on the attached questionaire and return to Ayla
at chrysaliswoman@yahoo.com by November 30th.  Your voices are important, your dreams/goals and visions for WOVEN are ciritical… hearing how you wish to move forward is imperative.
The answers to the questionaire will be read and tallied and the overall results communicated at the December gathering, (Friday, December 3rd) ~ which marks the end of our first year together as WOVEN sisters.
All those who have attended WOVEN gatherings are encouraged to attend, to not only be a witness to WOVEN’s future, but to share in the completion of our first year together.  To celebrate our successes as well as honor the challenges of our newly birthed group.
If you should have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at (209) 772-0511 orchrysaliswoman@yahoo.com

Our Next WOVEN Gathering

Since there were no volunteers to lead the next gathering the beautiful Ayla made this suggestion…..

Greetings WOVEN ~

My suggestion is to give someone until August 2nd to volunteer with a topic ~ if we don’t receive someone by then… how about we gather and open up the question/answer/ help portion and have that be the body of our gathering…

We may not have volunteers to hostess each meeting and this gives us the opportunity to receive answers from our peers in regards to very specific questions ;-)   For those that didn’t attend the meeting I facilitated ~ we gave time to each WOVEN member to ask very specific questions regarding challenges she was currently having in her business and each of us provided answers/guidance to help her move forward.

Sorry to have missed the last gathering… so looking forward to seeing everyone again next month ;-)

bLeSs!

July Gathering Overview

July 2nd. 2010

ATTENDEES

Brandy Astwood, Motherlode Holistic Connection

Anne Lukes, Birth.Body.Bliss

Barbara Sheare, Heart Made

Chis DeRosa. Health and Harmony Retreat

Rose Navarro,Pawsitive Pet Care

Overview

This month we focused on business marketing. Due the  to the small size of this months gathering we were able to have a great free flowing discussion on marketing basics, pinpointing what works and what doesnt.

Each sister shared :

  • her vision for her business

  • her ideal client

  • the solution she is offering

  • her marketing budget. It was clear this is an area that needed more focus!

  • where she currently markets her offering.

  • her biggest marketing issues: lack of knowledge of what marketing is, how to word her offerings

Anne Lucks of Birth.Body.Bliss has started a weekly marketing work group on Monday Morning in herFair Oaks office, based on Laura Allen’s book, 1 year to a Successful Massage Practice which is filled with easy to use ideas and actions that translate well for any healing arts service. As a group we invited Ann to share the weekly assignments on the WOVEN e-group ( I’m sure you have seen the posts since it took so long to get the summery done! Lol) I encourage each of you to get the book and follow along so we have some great dialog in the egroup that stimulates us and our ideas.

There were no vol for lead the August meeting so please feel free to raise your hand!

Since a gathering leader was not pick neither was a topic and  I am asking for the groups suggestions.

Many Blessings
